CUSS KILLING SCOTUS
The Stupid Party, the GOP, has likely just given the Supreme Court over to the Corrupt Party, the Democrats, AKA the Progressives.
Killing the American Health Care Act (AHCA) that would have replaced ObamaCare puts the Senate in danger for 2018. When the Freedom Caucus, urged on by Senators Lee, Cruz, and Paul, held out for everything they wanted, they set a precedence that'll be followed for all legislation from here on.
It is clear from reports that the Caucus got all they originally asked for, then decided to hold out for perfection, as they always do, without regard for consequences.
There will be no massive tax relief now, for the Caucus (let's abbreviate it to Cuss), will demand all tax cuts "be paid for." As Art Laffer, the economist behind the Reagan Recovery, has repeatedly pointed out, this is not the time to worry about the deficit, but to get the economy moving and the deficit will be reduced quickly by increased tax revenue. But the Cuss will never go for that argument; they'll use the CBO's static scoring, which ignores the effects of tax cuts and only considers them as reductions in revenue, to demand no "increase in the deficit", no "addition to the debt."
So a robust recovery is not likely.
Furthermore, for the same reasons, the Cuss will oppose increases in military and infrastructure spending. The GOP will bring reform of Washington to a halt.
The political result of no Obamacare replacement, a stagnant economy, and a still-dwindling military? Ouster of the slim GOP majority in the Senate. And that means:
Well, putting Gorsuch on the Court puts it at 4 Progressives (Ginsburg, Breyer, Kagan, and Sotomayor), 1 Liberal (Kennedy), 3 Constitutionalists (Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch), and Chief Justice Roberts, an untrustworthy maybe Conservative. That's a 5-4 lean to the left. So we have no Constitutional majority yet.
Unless Kennedy, Breyer, or Ginsburg leaves the Court well before Fall of 2018, there will be no chance to appoint another Constitutionalist before the elections. The sure loss of the Senate means the Dem majority will not confirm any Trump nominee, even if he wins a second term. And as soon as a Democrat wins the Presidency, hello a Progressive majority on the bench, goodbye liberty.
Can the Stupid Party avoid this future? Yes, but it would require a return to common sense that the Cuss doesn't seem capable of.
