THE COMEY COMEDY
I've said from the beginning that FBI Director James Comey was not apolitical. His reputation for being a straight-shooter was based on his defying President W. Bush (43). I said at that time, years ago, that just because a person defies a Republican does not mean they will defy a Democrat. And it turns out, Comey is a Democrat sycophant.
Under President Obama, both Robert Mueller and Comey put politics above law. Fast and Furious went unresolved, prominent Tea Party activists received multiple intimidating FBI visits for charges that proved groundless, the IRS investigation went nowhere, the Benghazi probe was haphazard and incomplete.
Then came the Clinton e-mail scandal. Consider the evidence. Comey hand-picks his investigators and has them sign a non-disclosure form; the very bedrock basis of any FBI investigation is non-disclosure, that's SOP for FBI agents. So why have them sign such a form? In case they go rogue and actually call for charges, he has cause to end their career.
After the Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton meeting on the tarmac to discuss kids and golf (sure they did)--by the way, I contend it will come out eventually that Lynch arranged the meeting--the FBI interviewed Hillary Clinton without recording the interview. Why no recording? So there would be no evidence of "lying to the FBI", itself a crime (just ask Scooter Libby and Martha Stewart). And Hillary was accompanied by her lawyer and fellow suspect Cheryl Mills, totally inappropriate.
Director Comey then lays out the indictment of Ms. Clinton, but recommends no charges be filed, shocking those who considered him a neutral party. He dumps the FBI notes of her interrogation, such as it was, on a Friday night, the traditional burial ground of embarrassing information.
Reports had it that many in the FBI were angry that Comey dropped the ball and there was a near-revolt underway.
Now new HRC e-mails have turned up on Huma Abedin's laptop, and the FBI agents involved are not Comey's hand-picked Clinton-supporters. So no non-disclosure papers are available to keep them from leaking the files.
Comey essentially re-opened the e-mail probe. Many on the right are again praising him. Give it a rest. He's merely covering his behind. Having ruined his and the FBI's reputation by not going to a grand jury or recommending charges on HRC's server scandal, had he tried to cover these up until after the election, the New York agents may well have leaked them. This way, he keeps the contents unknown until after November 8, but can't be accused of hiding the information from the voters. CYA, all the way. It was the best he could do for Obama and Clinton, given the circumstances.
Well, it's hard to believe, but I guess I was not cynical enough. Comey has now again exonerated Hillary, two days before the election. I defer to Rush Limbaugh for the correct call on this:
" The cynical view is that Comey is still carrying water for Clinton. . .So you announce you're opening the inquiry, get everybody all hot and bothered and focused on it, and then after three or four or five days, announce it was a false alarm. . .meanwhile, in that five-day period everybody's forgotten about Wikileaks."
A totally political FBI; just what the country needs.
